  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound turkey bacon, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups milk (for gravy)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead a few times until smooth.
  6. Roll out to 1-inch thickness and cut into rounds.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then remove from the pan.
  9. Add the ground beef to the same skillet and brown.
  10. Sprinkle in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  11. Slowly whisk in the milk and pepper, cooking until the gravy thickens.
  12. Serve the gravy over the biscuits and top with crispy turkey bacon.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add some cayenne pepper to the gravy.
  • Feel free to substitute sausage for ground beef or turkey bacon if desired.
