  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup whipped topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add oil, vanilla, and water, mixing until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  5. Once baked, let it cool slightly, then poke holes all over the cake.
  6. Pour chocolate syrup over the top, letting it soak in.
  7. Let the cake cool completely, then spread whipped topping over the top.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate syrup.
  • Feel free to add chocolate shavings on top before serving.
