  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cupcake tins.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together flour and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into flour mixture.
  4. Pour batter into cupcake tins and bake for 15-20 minutes.
  5. For the sauce, combine strawberries, bourbon, and brown sugar in a saucepan and simmer until thickened.
  6. Serve cupcakes topped with the bourbon strawberry sauce.

Notes

  • Ensure the egg whites are at room temperature for better volume.
  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute bourbon with additional fruit juice.
