A delightful homemade sweet potato pie topped with a crunchy pecan praline.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sweet potatoes, mashed
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for praline)
  • 1/4 cup butter (for praline)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (for praline)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Pour the mixture into the pie crust.
  4. Bake for 45 minutes or until the filling is set.
  5. In a saucepan, melt butter and stir in brown sugar and heavy cream for the praline.
  6. Stir in chopped pecans and cook until bubbly.
  7. Spread the praline mixture over the baked pie and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Let cool before serving.
