  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before removing from the pan.

Notes

  • For extra richness, add chocolate chips to the batter.
  • This cake can be served with a dusting of powdered sugar or chocolate glaze.
